Gene Hubert Memorial Contra Dance Greensboro Grange!! Coracree with various Callers

Band Members
Jane Rothfield (Fiddle), Allan Carr (Double Bass), Bill Quern (Tenor Banjo, Mandolin, 5-String Banjo, Accordian, Harmonica), Sarah Gowan (Guitar/Foot Percussion)
Hometown: Philadelphia PA

Contemporary contra dance music blending a mixture of traditional Celtic, Old Time, European and Original music that swings with an improvisational twist!A rocking dance band with great chops and driving rhythms that moves the dancers and gets them yelling Whoo! We play music with deep roots…a mix of traditional and original tunes with a fresh contemporary twist. Our dance music is always morphing with the callers groove and the dancers moves!

Biography
CORACREE (Pronounced Kor-a-kree) started out in 2009 when members from two long standing and highly experienced contra dance bands (Rumpus-Bill Quern/Sarah Gowan and Jane’s Gang-Jane Rothfield and Allan Carr) met, played some tunes and discovered something “interesting”! At first they called their new band, RumpusGang…then changed it to Off The Cuff-unfortunately we looked for the domain name for Off the Cuff it was taken. After much searching, the name of Coracree seemed to fit the bill-Coracree is the name of a house in remote NE Scotland (Where Allan is from) and is also immortalized in traditional song. CORACREE symbolizes the deep roots of many tunes that our band plays-Celtic, Appalachian, New England, European as well as the new tunes that we write in the traditional style.
There will be various Callers.
